use of single color osgeo logo

Description

I noticed something amazing visiting http://zoo-project.org - a OSGeo logo under related links, this changes to the traditional green colors when your mouse is over the image, but even then the dark green is hard to see; see attached image.

To fix the OSGeo logo is available in white or back for use against colored backgrounds:

For more information see the style guide. While the above links are SVGs I am happy to create a PNG is needed.

osgeo logo hard to read, displayed in unexpected colors

Many thank for your report, very much appreciated. I was pretty sure that I made a mistake in the use of the logo, as I have taken a quick look in the styleguide.

I hope that now it is ok. Note that I have changed the fill color in the SVG file to look as other logo on the same page when they are not activated.

I have to admit that I tried to quickly integrate the new logo and I was not very happy with the initial result (mainly because of the way I have colored the image). IMO, it looks far better with the white logo in SVG you have provided.

I hope you can confirm that it is fine now.

Checking it out ... looks a bit funny near the compass; for the black and white logo they put a gap so the compass direction could be seen.

See https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/blob/master/marketing/branding/logo/osgeo-logo-bw.svg

We do not have a log with a tagline (it was never a request when we were going through the branding, the area was used for "subbrands like incubation").

If you check out this trac (https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/2011) ticket I have tried to make a banner (logo with tagline) for the main osgeo.org, it has some attachments where I have experimented with layout if you really want to try making a tagline.

I have converted the tagline1 example and replaced with the bw logo and attached to the ticket for your review. I kind kind of see the effect you are going for on the zoo-project, logo outline that fades into color on mouse over. I think the background color and the dark gray in the osgeo logo / tagline does not offer enough contrast for me to read, I can attached example.

The bw logo is still official, it is intended for websites like this when the color will not show up.

You may have the best luck fading from your gradient to the bw version so it is readable in both cases. I have attached white version with tagline as svg and png for your experimenting.

Thanks for taking the time on this, we are being extra sensitive because the brand is new and we expect more copy and paste than reading the style guide.
